Christie Coptergate: Christie to pay back state for helicopter trips

http://www.kare11.com/news/national/article/925380/18/NJ-Gov-to-reimburse-state-after-questionable-helicopter-trips-

Governor Chris Christie and the New Jersey GOP will reimburse the state after Christie twice took a state police helicopter to his son's little league game. Spokeswoman Maria Comella says Christie has paid $2,251 to the state to cover the cost of all trips.

Comella also says the state GOP has paid $919 to cover the cost of Christie's trip Tuesday when used the helicopter to fly 75 miles from a game in Montvale to Princeton, to take a meeting with a group of top GOP campaign contributors from Iowa.

3. That sounds low. He should be charged a rental rate with the usual built in costs.
That would be a lot more.

You try to rent a specialty helicopter like this one and you would not be paying $919.

4. $919 sounds a little light
for a full size police helicopter, the pay for the poor cop forced to handle the freight, and the fact that it had to sit there while that asshole pretended to watch his kid play ball for 5 innings. He was then driven back to the chopper to be taken to a private event where he "denied" an interest in running for President.

Shit for that kind of money I'm tempted to rent one to go back and forth to work, save time at the guard shack getting in.

That sounds like quite a bargain. My guess is he's paying for fuel and minor incremental costs attributing the rest as sunk, fixed costs.

7. Is he or isn't he gonna reimburse NJ taxpayers? The article ends with...
Christie's spokesman had said Wednesday that the governor would not reimburse taxpayers.

His spokesman, Michael Drewniak, said the helicopter use was appropriate and the governor "does not reimburse for security and travel."

I'm so confused.

8. Oh, can anyone hire the helicopter for trips? Because I'm off to a baseball game tonight.
If paying it back is all it takes, sign me up! THE PEOPLE'S HELICOPTER!
