1. Why not use the biblical term? Stumbling block. And that is the worst sin you may commit
save the unpardonable sin.

5. I don't need to know about the Bible in order to know about some of its purported
followers.

Nor do I have anything in particular against Christians. Just those who have twisted a basic message of love, of which I heartily approve, into one of hate.

Fundamentalism
[fuhn-duh-men-tl-iz-uhm]
-noun

1. (sometimes initial capital letter) a movement in American Protestantism that arose in the early part of the 20th century in reaction to modernism and that stresses the infallibility of the Bible not only in matters of faith and morals but also as a literal historical record, holding as essential to Christian faith belief in such doctrines as the creation of the world, the virgin birth, physical resurrection, atonement by the sacrificial death of Christ, and the Second Coming.

7. Believe it or not, there are conservative Christians who are politically liberal.
Check out Jim Wallis & Sojourners magazine if you want a primo example.

12. And?
How does the existence of politically liberal conservative Christians affect the definition of "fundamentalism?"

15. It doesn't. But "far-righteous" (another term of my invention)
is meant to imply fundamentalist Christianity mixed with authoritarian ideology.

17. I understand.
My only comment is that fundamentalism carries with it an authoritarian mindset with God and the Bible as the Authority, so I just see "far-righteous" as a bit redundant in that respect.

19. Hunter Thompson used "godsuckers"
I always liked that one: it has a beautiful double entendre of "fool" and oral sex, and it's just a crude epithet with that nasty hard consonant sound.
