Not a huge amount. Just a couple of new ones here and a couple more over there. But then there never was a huge amount of new construction around here. There are no For Sale signs in front of them so I assume they are being built to suit. This is probably a good sign. Any new construction going on around you?

1. just a ton of road construction thanks to the stimulus spending
and we need em, so that's good. some housing but we never had a lot going here anyway

this little pocket of NM has hardly felt the downturn, it's steady as she goes around here....

2. There are some projects going on in Napa, but the community isn't
a real good indicator because it generally weathers downturns/recessions better than many areas in the region.

I was just reading an article in the Napa Valley Register about some acceleration of local building:

3. Some here and there, but...
We still have a glut of foreclosures and short sales on the market. I'm in AZ, and we were hit pretty hard by the downturn. Everything is dirt cheap here. I'm in a pretty desirable area, and there's a place near me that has 4 bedrooms, vaulted ceilings, and a pool, in a master-planned community, and it's only $115K; it was worth over $300K about 2 or 3 years ago. Many of the higher-placed places are sitting, and many of the low-to-mid-priced homes are being bought by investors and Canadians.
