Are The Democrats And Republicans Just Playing "Good Cop/Bad Cop" For The Global Corporatists ???
Good cop/bad cop, known in British military circles as Mutt and Jeff (from an American newspaper comic strip of that name) and also called joint questioning and friend and foe,<1> is a psychological tactic used for interrogation.

'Good cop/bad cop' tactics involves a team of two interrogators who take apparently opposing approaches to the subject. The interrogators may interview the subject alternately or may confront the subject at the same time.

The 'bad cop' takes an aggressive, negative stance towards the subject, making blatant accusations, derogatory comments, threats, and in general creating antipathy between the subject and himself. This sets the stage for the 'good cop' to act sympathetically: appearing supportive, understanding, in general showing sympathy for the subject. The good cop will also defend the subject from the bad cop.

I hear what you're saying though. Someone I know went to work for the census and left totally disillusioned. The amount of corruption, blatant lawbreaking, and manipulation was unbelievable. Was basically the only one there who refused to commit crimes and everyone was either in on it or didn't care, no matter how high up they went pursuing it. And the census determines everything - which districts the money goes to, Congressional representation, you name it.

But what I would say is that even if you don't think it's possible to win, at least make things as hard as you can. Death by a thousand paper cuts, if you will.

38. Because the media is terrified of having the GOP call them unpatriotic.
It is that simple.

If a person in the media really challenges a GOP member, they are accused of being unpatriotic. Which terrifies most of the media.

Earlier today, I saw Ratigan on MSNBC call a Congressional Democrat a LIAR. To her face. I have never seen ANY interviewer make such a claim on MSNBC, CNN, or FOX.

GOP members can go on that same show and LIE, and never be challenged ... Ratigan had no problem hitting a Dem with that accusation, even thought the point in question could be debated.

And Ratigan is on the "liberal" MSNBC ... I can't wait to hear him call a GOP member a liar during an interview. I will not hold my breath.

44. Sadly...he's dyed his hair. On MSNBC this a.m. I love Dean...he didn't need to do this...
but, I realize MSNBC/CNBC has always tarted up their commentators. I remember Howard Fineman appearing one day and I spewed coffee because he had obviously done an "at home die job" and half of his head was colored "red/brown" and a flip over streak was hanging there. Next time I saw him he got it color corrected and he was back to mixed grey/white.

I wouldn't think Howard would need to dye his hair....

I DO BELIEVE he is trying to be supportive of Obama at this point ...but it doesn't mean he isn't trying to build a better Party behind the scenes.

He just needs to get those MSNBC MakeUp/HairStylist Artists off his BACK! He probably didn't even know what they were doing to him in the Pre Op!

86. They are identical...

They are trotted out to talk to the various "flanks" when grumbling is heard, while the party powers roll their eyes. Then, when party unity is demanded, they line up like ducks in a row... don't let the perfection pander be the enemy of the press cycle.

They are the Colmes to the political Hannity... the in-house "voices of the people". The fact that they are different "voices" is inconsequential.

And, they earn their pay during elections by scaring out the vote on the other side.

It's a racket... an unconscious, non-conspiratorial racket, but a racket nonetheless.

I might agree on the "stupidity of this place", but would probably come up with different names.

"The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don’t. You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own, and control the corporations. They’ve long since bought, and paid for the Senate, the Congress, the state houses, the city halls, they got the judges in their back pockets and they own all the big media companies, so they control just about all of the news and information you get to hear."

"...and now they’re coming for your Social Security money. They want your fuckin' retirement money. They want it back so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street, and you know something? They’ll get it. They’ll get it all from you sooner or later cause they own this fuckin' place. It’s a big club and you ain't in it. You and I are not in The big club."

110. No wonder sages like George Carlin had to work as a "comedian"
The brainwashing is so deep in this country that it was the only way he could speak truth to people & have it sink in.
He had to masquerade as a "comedian" to speak about the tragedies of American life.
The funny thing is that quote of Carlin's you used got met with wooos & cheers from the audience he spoke to.
I know that it's probably more responding to George's plainspoken bluntness & insight but his words should rightly cause anger & a change in viewpoint.

"It's a big club...and you ain't in it. You and I are not in The Big Club!"
"WOOOOOOOO! *clap clap clap* YEEEEAAAAHH!! *clap clap clap clap*"

Yep, no wonder he had to be a "comedian".

65. You think after 8 ears of Bush
there wouldn't be an intelligent person who would believe this anymore. Nader voters bought this no difference crap hook line and sinker and instead of giving Gore a big enough cushion so the election couldn't the stolen. We got the wost president ever. The tax cuts and Iraq certainly would've never happened. Maybe with a competent administration the 9/11 attacks are flushed out and stopped before they happen. The purist crowd would've bashed Gore during his terms like them do Obama, but at the end of the day world would've been a much better place.

That proves something to me. I'm glad I voted for him and I'm glad that at least I was on the right side of history.

Sometimes it seems like it's all just political theater and the dominoes are already set-up in advance for us.

And we have to begin to decide whether there is anything worth saving of the

Democratic Party?

Granted, we can continue on with the Dems and the slower ride into corporate fascism ...

but the slide to the right will continue to accelerate.

Neither Republicans nor Democrats are your friend.
Neither Republicans nor Democrats are in your corner.

Once this knowledge becomes the rule rather than the exception in people's minds, then things will start to change.
The only party I belong to is the Mario Party. Political parties are just a waste of time.
