Anti-circumcision activists in San Francisco distribute anti-Semitic literature.
Meantime, Hess is pushing his political effort with other dark, threatening images of Jewish characters.

His "Foreskin Man" card set being sold through Cafe Press feautures the terrifying-looking "Monster Mohel."

The astounding description of a person qualified to perform the Jewish rite of circumcision:

"Nothing excites Monster Mohel more than cutting into the infantile penile flesh of an eight day old boy."

3. I thought you might take a "funny" route.
Maybe it is my warped humor after reading this shit for two days, but when I saw your title: "With a name like Hess -" I was sure it was going to be "You know it has to Jew-hating." You know, similar to the old Smucker's campaign..."With a name like Smucker's -- You know it has to be good!" Sorry, odd mood. Whatever you do, DON'T read the LBN thread about this!!!

It is OK to use anti-Semitism, sometimes. :eyes:

Only a monster would love such a job.

28. I guess the doctors who do this at a hospital also love
their job.

There are days I wonder...

Have you ever been present at a bris? Or for that matter at a hospital? You know the significance of it? You understand your statement IS quite antisemitic? By the way the way the character is drawn this comes straight from der sturmer. Of course that draws from 2000 years of it, but who's counting.

6. I must be new to this-I don't get it-
Edited on Sat Jun-04-11 10:30 PM by digonswine
Please enlighten me. I am a very little bit upset that my parents decided to to clip mine. In that day-they thought it was "hygienic" or
some other such nonsense. It had zilch to do with religion, since they had none. Is there a long beef regarding this topic? This is new to me--I get that the topic in the OP may be anti-Semitic-is there a circumcision forum here? I'm serious.

8. It's on the ballot here.
The voters of San Francisco will vote on whether to ban the practice within City limits. And it's generating a lot of heat.

I will just hand my kid over to the City to raise.

But how nice of you to intentionally force your religion or lack of it on us. I want you to get your foreskin sewn back on. I don't want there to be any mistake EVER.

30. OK-I see your point-
I do not truly-in my heart-want to see a ban on circumcision-I got my hackles up. There are limits to what one should be able to do in the name of faith-but the slippery slope does not apply here, I think. It is, in the end, a fairly small deal and not one on which to take a stand.

13. You do understand, don't you, that this initiative did not originate from city governement.
It is a citizen's ballot initiative which only requires 10% of registered voters' signatures to be on the ballot.

25. I think barring people from slicing off a piece from another unconsenting human being
is pretty progressive.

Progressives fought to stop people owning other human beings. Too bad for the people who thought they should own people, the progressives won.

within the family.

A parent is responsible for their child. Not only is this done for religious reasons, but it is

also done for hygienic reasons, and the spread of infection. You don't subscribe to that, don't have it done to your kids.

You deal with your kids, and others will deal with theirs, stay out of private family matters

A lot of the same groups that don't believe in vaccinations, believe in this nonsense

That this is on the ballot in San Francisco is no surprise, since this was the same city who banned Happy Meals, because in their infinite wisdom they believed society should determine what parents should feed their kids.

Stay away from my kids!

And you are in favor of a law restricting the practice of religion despite the constitution?

Well, aren't you just the sweetest thing?

29. I recommend you read this
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

And try to comprehend how this applies to this practice.

26. That's true. The teeny tiny turtleneck crowd doesn't like FGM either.
Of course, FGM is a cultural and a religious practice.

Christians also used cluture and "the word of god" to substantiate slavery. Blinding, stoning, live burials... all sorts of barbarianism can be defended with maintaining cultural norms.
