Anti-gay Florida Family Association warns: The gays are coming to Disney
http://www.lgbtqnation.com/2011/06/anti-gay-florida-family-association-warns-the-gays-are-coming-to-disney/

Saturday, June 4, 2011

A conservative family values group took to the skies over Central Florida with a warning of the annual “Gay Day” occurring at Walt Disney World today.

The Florida Family Association spent $7,000 to fly banners over Orlando for 10 hours each day on Friday and Saturday that read, “Warning Gay Day at Disney 6/4.”

“Thousands of homosexuals, lesbians and transgenders will converge on Central Florida the first week of June to celebrate their immoral lifestyles,” said another warning on the FFA’s website.

“Many Gay Day patrons wore shirts that promoted homosexuality, kissed, hugged and groped in very public places and dressed in drag all to the curiosity of tens of thousands of children (top right photo), the FFA reported in a follow-up on the day’s events.

4. Considering that Disney is the
only reality in America, (the rest being nothing more than The Simulation) that means that Gay is getting closer to real.

If that line miffed you, they you simply must explore the philosophical ideas of the French philospher Baudrillard. He is somewhat deep and difficult to read, but his concepts were very influential in the movie, The Matrix. "Welcome to the desert of the real!" was a line that Morpheus said and it was from his writings.

When those folks came to Neo's door, (101) to get some contraband, you might remember that he had the stuff hidden in a book that was entitled, Simulation and Simulacra. That was a plant for you to consider. The page the book opens to, (which is opposite the actual page it occurs on) was Nihilism.

When you consider the cultural, almost magical, power that Disney has had all over the world, it might be easy to consider what Baudrillard meant when he exclaimed it the reality of America and that everything else in the culture was The Simulation. The Simulation, (the media and the rest) creates a hyper-reality, (more real than real) that pulls us all in. It absorbs and regurgitates all of history and creates new and enticing permutations of the information it has in order to entertain us in ways that keep us captivated and more than ready to trade what is real, (flesh and bones, actual and immediate) for what The Simulation presents to us via its many outlets.

When Baudrillard was asked what he thought about the honor of having his ideas incorporated into the movie, The Matrix, he responded that that move was the movie that the Matrix would make about itself.

12. Aw...geez. They whine about this every year.
And every year nothing happens. The world just keeps spinning on its axis, Disney makes money, and the guy flying the plane towing the banners makes a few extra bucks.
