Bait and Switch
Congress Chooses One Week’s Worth of Tax Cuts for Millionaires over Nutrition Assistance for Families that Need It

The numbers continue to astound. The GOP House plan to slash over $900 million from three federal nutrition programs could deprive up to 500,000 women, infants and children - and they threw in some seniors for good measure - of the food they need. Most of that - $833 million - is equivalent to one week’s worth of Bush tax cuts for the rich. It would reduce the federal deficit by less than one-tenth of a percent. They call this "righting the ship." Positively Orwellian.

7. Combine this with the fact that taxes are lower than under Reagan ....
and the idiocy compounds.

Republicans roll eyes at Obama's (accurate) assertion that taxes were higher under Reagan

During Ronald Reagan's presidency, total federal tax revenue as a percentage of GDP averaged 18.2%, reaching a low point of 17.3% in 1984.

During Barack Obama's presidency, total federal tax revenue as a percentage of GDP has averaged 14.9% and is projected to drop to 14.4% in 2011.
