3. In order for this OP to occur--it's all part of a grand scheme and you are an
unwitting participant...

(I kid.)

5. Heath Shuler - because he's a macho, right-wing redneck.

7. You see the election results?
I'd be surprised if someone didn't protest that she led them to such a crushing defeat, the effects of which we will be suffering for a decade at the minimum.

8. Because tens of millions were spent making her name radioactive in their districts.
I'm sure many would have voted for her if their vote mattered. They just decided not to add more campaign fodder in a ceremonial vote.

(Though some probably wouldn't have voted for even if it mattered, like Heath Shuler).

9. To honor John Lewis.

U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords voted against Nancy Pelosi as leader of the House Democrats Wednesday.

<snip>

Grijalva could not be reached for immediate comment but a Giffords’ spokesman said Lewis serves as a “bright, guiding light” for Americans.

“The congresswoman’s vote for Rep. John Lewis signaled her desire for courageous leadership and high moral standards at a critical time in our nation’s history,” said Giffords’ spokesman, C.J. Karamargin. “He is one of our nation’s most prominent civil rights leaders and a hero to all Americans.”
