The United Nations has declared Internet access a human right
http://mashable.com/2011/06/06/un-internet-access-human-right/

The United Nations has declared Internet access a human right, and disconnecting people from it is against international law.

The recent UN report explores the issues of Internet access in great detail, both on the infrastructural level and as a matter of access to content.

“There should be as little restriction as possible to the flow of information via the Internet, except in few, exceptional, and limited circumstances prescribed by international human rights law,” the report says.

It recognizes that there are certain circumstances in which restricting the information flow on the Internet may be legitimate, such as cyber attacks. It also points out that states often misuse their power with this regard.

1. Should be more general. Communication, period, by any means.
In fact, I considerr this a natural consequence of Freedom of Assembly.

2. how bout we focus on drinking water for all first?
Why not go after corporations who are poaching water out from under people who have limited/no access instead of jumping ahead to wifi for all?

4. The internet is a great way to spread information like Corporations poaching water.
Also, the world isn't single threaded. We don't have to solve one issue before tackling another.

6. i sure agree, but
could we first get the brain trusts together to worry about air/water/food quality? how about oppression? multi-tasking is a great thing, but i fear we're running out of time, and fast.

7. The free flow of ideas and thoughts without restriction...
is a good step towards getting our "brain trusts together" though.

Yes, we are running out of time. Human Population control/reduction is critical.
