Twenty-three doctors and 24 nurses in Bahrain were charged Monday with trying to topple the country’s monarchy, simply by treating wounded protesters, Al Jazeera English reported. The doctors and nurses have been imprisoned for their so-called crimes since March.
Though the state of emergency was lifted June 1, protests still rage on. Officials have warned that there will be “consequences” for anyone who continues to demonstrate.
