We had a murder/suicide in the neighborhood last night - not far from the brothel, couple weeks ago.
I posted about the brothel - middle class townhouse, nothing out of the ordinary. She rented the place and had two women working for her using some CraigsList-like board to advertise. The police noticed. When I drove by today it had a "for rent" sign out.

Just around the corner, a woman shot her estranged domestic partner and then shot herself. Unfortunately, there was a kid in the house (one of their sons, not sure which). I'm pretty sure we knew them informally - they walked a dog around our block rather frequently in the past and we'd talked at times. That's just sad. Of course the morons with good hair from the TV stations are all over the place but there's really not much they can say other than what the paper already reported. The only reason it is news at all is because OF the neighborhood, the recent incident with the brothel, they were a same-sex couple, and white. They won't send the TV trucks into Allison Hill or N. 6th st. when there's a shooting - and that's not infrequent. The paper covers those incidents. The TV-only people never seem to know about any of what goes on over there.

I knew about it last night. My daughter's boyfriend was on his way back from dropping her off at work, saw the cop cars and police tape, and stopped to ask. Around here, the cops actually answer questions. Incidents like that just make me feel sad.

2. The paper said he wasn't harmed but they took him to the hospital for evaluation anyway.

He's at least going to need some counseling. That has to be traumatic. I saw a girlfriend in her car after she wrecked (she was 17, I was 19). That really fucked up MY head.

On edit: Yes, the crash killed her.

4. UPDATE: The paper said the shooter tried to kill him.
He heard the commotion downstairs and opened his bedroom door to a 38 staring him in the face. He was quick - slammed the door and ducked and the bullet flew over his head. Apparently she killed herself while he was calling 911. Fortunately, his sister was out of the house - at work.
