Is this blackmail? Remember the Bill Cosby case?
Cosby had had an affair with the woman who threatened him, but he called her bluff and went after her for blackmail. I agree he needs to apologize publicly to his wife and family and constituents. THEN I think Weiner should go after him for blackmail.

1. How could it be called blackmail?
Blackmail would be Breitbart privately contacting Weiner and saying, "I know you did this, and I want money/favors to keep quiet about it."

Breitbart just did his first piece of real journalism, thanks to Weiner's stupidity.

2. Who is Bill Cosby blackmailing?

Although it is possible to piece together what you're really getting at, it should not be necessary.

3. Did these people dogging Weiner for the past year or so
access a private message he sent to someone? I mean by these people, Patriot whatever and goatsred or whatever the fuck they call themselves.

IOW, Is it legal to latch on to a message he sent to someone privately and go public with it to hurt him? Were the pics and conversations he had on facebook and twitter private or sent out for all to see, and therefore, public domain? (I don't use twitter, so I'm not sure about this).

4. Is asking for an apology blackmail? I know asking for $50,000 would be.
But I'm not a lawyer.

5. I know extortion involves money. Is it legal to use
private info obtained illegally to smear someone publicly? Maybe I'm naive, but I have a problem with people getting dirt on someone illegally and being able to use it at will. I know you can dig through garbage, the Enquirer has done that for years. But this is different.

Maybe that's not what happened, but that was my understanding.
