Like it or not, Rep. Weiner almost certainly is done.
Even if he doesn't resign, he's basically made the decision for the party as to which downstate congressional seat will be redistricted out of existence. Its either that or a nasty primary fight.

And if Weiner makes a run for Mayor, I'd support him. But ever since it was announced that New York was going to lose two seats due to redistricting, the conventional wisdom has been that one Democratic seat from downstate would be eliminated and one Republican seat from upstate. The simple fact is that the party leaders are likely to look at this situation and decide that Weiner's district should be the one that is eliminated.
