Here's why I tend to hold dems to a lower standard when it comes to sex scandals
Edited on Mon Jun-06-11 04:27 PM by Very_Boring_Name
Democrats aren't the ones going out and telling everybody else how to live their lives, or telling everybody how evil sex is, or blaming natural disasters on immoral lifestyles, nor are they the ones who want to criminalize extramarital affairs. When a republican does it, the main source of my outrage isn't the sex itself (though it does creep me out), my outrage is the sheer hypocrisy. That hypocrisy does not exist when someone like Anthony Weiner does it (though the creepiness remains), because he's not basing his entire career on telling us how evil we are for having sex.

2. I agree with your point, but another issue is that corporate media WILL do their best to destroy
Democrats and especially liberals. For that reason, dems must be held to a higher standard - if only for practical reasons.

6. He is a true champion for us...
we can't let the mSm destroy him. I agree one hundred percent on the outrage over GOP affairs. I didn't give a shit about Clinton getting a blowjob either. Or the cover up. politicians lie. We are not so naive to think otherwise. I am not willing to thow out a great champ for our cause simply because he got caught in a lie about being a little pervy with consenting of age ladies.

5. You're right, and I still think cheating on your spouse is a real scumbag move no matter the party
(and yes, I know he didn't actually cheat on his wife, I'm just talking generally). But if a republican cheats, I'd expect him to immediately resign, as his/her entire political career is *based* on the "traditional family values" crap. Not so with a dem like anthony weiner.

where scandals are concerned especially stupid sex scandals that could be avoided. Democrats KNOW that the they pay a higher price and they KNOW that Breitbart types will do anything to take them down yet they go right ahead and are ... STUPID. They have got to be smarter than that, this country is going down the crapper just ... WISE UP!

9. Maybe I'm just a bit TOO liberal but
Sure sending sleazy photos to women while your married qualifies you as a douchebag.

However, the picture of his boner in briefs, while inappropriate, doesn't qualify as a "sex scandal".

Is it just me?

if they want to be leaders within, they have to live by a higher standard. or else it turns into this sort of distraction and hurts us politically
