Weiner, Weiner, Weiner
You know what? I don't give a care about Anthony Weiner's weiner. You'd think we had solved all the problems in this country, and the world for that matter, and this was the only thing people had to get outraged about.

Can't we just move on?

3. What does registering sex offenders online to keep them away from children
have to do with TWO GROWN ASS ADULTS sending salacious material to each other ??

Seriously, no correlation

8. In the news conference, one of the reporters asked him
how he could know that all the females he engaged with were adults. He couldn't answer. That was not a good moment for him.

10. How did he know the people he was tweeting/chatting with were adults?
Edited on Mon Jun-06-11 05:10 PM by oberliner
In the press conference, he said that he never met any of them in person.

All communication was via Facebook, Twitter, and the like.

He sent lewd photos online to people he had never met - what if it turns out that one of them was a minor?

17. OMG That's true! WHat if one was a nun! and the other a 12 year old boy! and the other just a puppet
account for an ad-BOT

I think we should label him a pederast now and just get it out of the way.

I mean god forbid we wait for facts to come to light, we should just speculate away...

19. You wrote that these were "two grown ass adults"
Edited on Mon Jun-06-11 05:50 PM by oberliner
Weiner himself said in the press conference, however, that he did not know for sure what the ages were of any of the people he was communicating with, and he pointed out repeatedly that he never met them in person.

He said he assumed they were adults because they represented themselves as such on the social media sites.

Generally speaking, it seems incredibly risky to send explicit photos to someone you have never met and have only communicated with online.

It's not that unusual for people to misrepresent themselves online in various ways, including lying about their age.

5. And not just "spent" ten days lying
The overall cost of his stupid actions have a much higher cost. The press, the media, the wasted time spent by so many adds up big.

12. I hear ya.
Back in the old days when Palin was first running for VP, I posted quite a bit about her because as an Alaskan, I had more information about her than most people from the Lower 48. These days though it's just overkill to post about her unless it's something truly new and different. For instance, I'd probably post about her if she got indicted or something, but posting about her idiocy is stating the obvious.

9. Stuff like this gets more attention than the major problems within
Edited on Mon Jun-06-11 05:12 PM by RKP5637
this country. MSM loves to hype this as an attention getter to increase profit. IMO politicians are a cross section of Americans and tons of stuff like this goes on everyday, yet many people focus in on this and are aghast and frankly hypocritical.

There are things politicians do that are far far far more injurious than this to thousands/millions of people (if this is true).

I agree, "Can't we just move on?"

13. I find more real news on DU than I do with any of the 24/7 news outlets...
DU should run a cable network for news.

14. Yep, I find DU a great source for news and commentary. I spend too much
time on DU each day, but I am intrigued by all of the information and commentary. Often I see things on DU that never make it to 24/7 news outlets. And IMO many postings on DU are far more intelligent and insightful than MSM. Frankly, I trust DU more than the 24/7 news outlets / MSM. If anyone posts crap they get slammed down pretty quickly on DU.

I like to watch breaking news and car chases. I ignore most of the commentary as it is merely "Blah, Blah, Blah, Obama, Blah, Blah, the economy, Blah, Blah, Blah, Casey Anthony, Casey Anthony, Casey Anthony, Blah, Bhah Blah, Sarah Palin, Sarah Palin, Sarah Palin, Weiner, Weiner, Weiner, Weiner, Weiner, Weiner, Weiner, Weiner, Weiner, Weiner, Weiner,Weiner, Weiner, Weiner, Weiner, Weiner, Weiner, Weiner, Weiner, Weiner, Weiner, Weiner, Weiner,Weiner, Weiner, Weiner,Blah, Blah, Blah, Casey Anthony, Casey Anthony, Casey Anthony, Blah, Blah, Blah, Sarah Palin.

18. I have to admit, the car chases are quite entertaining, and yes, Blah, Blah, Blah
on the rest of it ... I check for breaking news and in the morning to see if the world still exists or if I'm the only one left LOL. And, to see any breaking news on the next mess the US has managed to get into ...

exactly like things are not going to eventually leak out by someone. It's like asking to get caught.

20. I agree on the non-caring, but why on a Monday ffs?
Every PR noob knows you dump the toxic news on Friday afternoon. The news gets played, the weekend anchors have fun, but NO ONE WATCHES and by Monday, it still gets thrown around, but it is already kinda old news and it doesn't get the same legs.
A Monday announcement pretty much ensures that Weiner's weiner will be the topic all week long. Can't we please talk about medicare, the budget, employment?
