Whatcha know... the history channel
will have a program on the ahem decline of the American Empire in half an hour.

They call us... Prophets of Doom.

Oh and incidentally that is another trend.

Me shower (after exercise) this should be interesting... especially the spin.

Oh and it follows the alien astronauts crap that they do every week, and pass off as history.

As they say... hit or miss with that piece of propaganda... err channel.

But the current CRAP has a few ideas for the current fiction piece I am working on.

1. The History Channel used to have good programs.
The decline in its quality is yet another step toward the stupidification of the American people.

2. I fear the day I actually get a job teaching
(hopefully)... and students going, but Teotihuacan (it means the place of the gods) was built by Aliens, really, and the Pyramid of the Sun was a landing path for them fine folks of Gliese 589.... (Ok they will not be that specific) . I mean they saw it on the teevee machine and me going over the boring and standard explanation will not be enough. That is scary. And I admit it, Daniken and crew were fun when I was 12... they are fun when looking for plot ideas... so is Coast to Coast... but jayzus... there are days.

Anyhoo this is also a trend to the fall of Empire... and cannot wait for the program to start, and see what SPIN they put on us prophets of doom that can see it coming like a freight train.

What is funny is that we probably lost oodles of techniques over the last 10K years... hell, we have lost the plans to the Saturn Five, no we could not go to the moon right now. That was two generations ago.

5. This has been an incredible program so far
yes, I know, we have had this conversation here on the old DU many a times... on ALL these themes...

But to WATCH a program on this is amazing. And as I said, it is a trend, part of the trend. It is coming, collapse is coming.

hate to be cassandra, but it is.

6. What amazes me is the need to explain evidence of advanced technology as coming from space aliens.
It is more likely that there existed a technologically advanced civilization of humans on earth that was destroyed in some kind of cataclysm (maybe "global climate change"?)

Only hubris can explain the idea that earlier earth people were incapable of developing advanced technology, together with the fantasy that modern humans are so clever that it would be impossible to "destroy" our civilization.

The Powers That Be would much rather we believe in space aliens than let the populous get the idea that TPTB are really very limited in controlling events, and shouldn't be allowed as much power over us that they now have.

7. To those who believe this crap I do point out
We cannot go to the moon. We've lost that ability. Does that mean Atmstrong was truly from Gliesse 484? ( Only exo planet in life zone so far that is Terran like)

But the program that came after that was definitely worth watching.
