... Nancy McFadden was appointed Executive Secretary for Legislation, Appointments and Policy in the Office of the Governor, a gig that pays $175,000 per year. McFadden, a Democrat, comes from Pacific Gas and Electric Co., where she was a senior vice president and the brains behind the PG&E-sponsored Prop. 16.

The San Francisco-based energy giant spent $46 million on the proposition, which was defeated by 52.5 percent of voters and stirred up considerable ill will for the company among local and state officials.

... Previous to working at PG&E, McFadden was a senior adviser to Gov. Gray Davis and was deputy chief of staff for Vice President Al Gore.
