They played a tape of Palin's self-justifying appearance with the Chris Wallace-shaped hollow shell, with the doppelganger grinning like a ghoul as Palin intoned, "I know my American history!" Brian Williams came back to quote the "gotcha" question from the OP that caused Palin to jump the tracks. Unfortunately, he just kind of left it there, rather than driving home the rather obvious point that the "gotcha" was no "gotcha" at all. I say "unfortunately" because there will be no shortage of viewers who don't get it, and who will thing that poor Sarah Palin was once again button-holed by a latter day Orianna Fallaci into making a stupid and damaging statement.
