There seems to be less than 10 years total since 1776 when we have not been involved in some kind of war somewhere...Can we stop anytime soon?

2. Carter says that he never ordered troops to fire a shot...
some of those "wars" were pretty minor. After WWII, I think that most of the wars (Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan) were created by our own industrial control of government and were simply a tool for corporate profit. We need to cut the military budget in half, close the hundreds of bases we have all over the world, and fund schools and healthcare.

It's insane to me, and I truly don't understand why we continue to do it.

5. Korea was in response to an invasion of the South by the North-they were
one country till the Soviets took the northern part in the last days of WWII, when they declared war on Japan in 1945...they took it and never gave it back, installed the Kim Il Jung regime, which still rules the DPRK.
Vietnam was totally for political reasons, IMO.
Iraq and Afghanistan wars were started pretty much a combination of politics and W's ego.

7. you got it backwards; the South attacked the North.
In fact, the recent wikileaks cables also confirmed that Syngman Rhee's South Korea attacked North Korea first.

8. Please read some history, North Korea attacked the South in 1950,
prompting intervention on the side of the South by the UN. Link:

3. Think you have to include the "discoverers" war on native peoples ....
Edited on Thu Jan-06-11 06:32 AM by defendandprotect
in the TAKING of this land -- and the war on Africans enslaved here --

PLUS the Civil War to protect the enterprise of slavery ---

"Compromises" in our Constitution with slave traders set us up for that Civil War --

and enriched the few who are still warring on us today -- plus the long legacy of

racism in America --

Unfortunately, we're still in the same gene pool!!

PS: And let's note the war on the native American continues even today -- and is

still highly profitable in the sense of criminal profit for our government.
