GOP candidate Herman Cain won’t sign bills longer than three pages
Source: RawReplay
By David Edwards

Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain promised Tuesday that as president, he wouldn’t sign any bill longer than three pages.

A video provided by Think Progress showed Cain speaking to a receptive audience at the Family Leader Presidential Lecture Series in Pella, Iowa.

“Engage the people,” Cain said. “Don’t try to pass a 2,700 page bill — and even they didn’t read it! You and I didn’t have time to read it. We’re too busy trying to live — send our kids to school. That’s why I am only going to allow small bills — three pages. You’ll have time to read that one over the dinner table. What does Herman Cain, President Cain talking about in this particular bill?”

2. What was the last bill that was three pages or less?
This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

4. Interesting number to choose
As I recall, the "economic dictatorship" bill that Hank Paulson put in front of Congress on the threat of "tanks in the streets" if they didn't assent was exactly three pages long.

5. Although
I do not agree with the three pages, but a bill that is 1000 pages is kinda ridiculous. I say 100 pages should be the limit.

6. It depends on the legislation.
There is minor legislation that could require a few pages to a couple of hundred.

But when it involves major legislation then likely to require much more especially when it could involve too many special interest groups that either want to kill it or make it better.

7. The U.S. budget bill is thousands of pages long
So if it's broken down to 3 page snippits, how many man years is Cain going to be spending signing those individual bills? Congress will have to have hearings on every single individual part of the Defense Appropriation Bill. If his intent is to shut government completely down, thats a good way to do it.
