Steele squirms. Sorry to gloat.

Runs just over 11 minutes.

16. I do too!
It's fun to watch how he tries to spin something ridiculous into reason.

2. I wish she'd just stop booking him.
He ruins the entire show for me. I'm close to never tuning in again.

He's been signed as a "contributor" to NBC.

3. She didn't "destroy" him.. He AGREED with her for the most part.
They were in accord that there was an inequality in the responses vis a vis IOKIYAR

5. When he went to the "that's just politics" defense....
...she accused him of "doing unprincipled things" and he had nothing. Starts at about the 8:30 mark.

13. It's the media response, though.
Did we have nonstop breathless news coverage over the David Vitter scandal?

9. Weird. That's the first time I've heard Steele actually sound intelligent and coherent.
He didn't adequately handle the Vitter paradox, but only because the Democrats haven't pulled the "rally the wagons" stunt the Republicans always do. Otherwise, what he was saying did make sense and he wasn't really defending any of the "perpetrators" in question on either side. Perhaps just getting out of the GOP machine is what the guy needed - although he still sounded like a moron a few months ago on Bill Maher's show.

14. He tends to sound more intelligent
when he's talking to Rachel. I find him almost likable when he is on her show. Now that he's not RNC chair, he seems more reasonable and his attempts at republican talking points appear rather half-hearted. I think he has latent liberal tendencies and Rachel could bring those out of him.

17. I have long had the suspicion that Micheal Steele is far, far more
intelligent (and therefore a Moderate, "closeted" Social Liberal and probably a true Economic Populist, if he ever actually took the time to reflect on it) than his time and position as RNC Chairman ever REQUIRED him to be. I know some 'round these parts have bashed MSNBC's decision (apparently on Rachel's good judgment)to put him on the payroll, but every moderate, SMART Republican we can get to at least NOT HATE US, I think is a thing worth doing.

(I know, I know, there is no such thing as a "smart" Republican, but some at least seem to be not quite as dumb as the others, and that is something that works in our favor if handled correctly heh)

Just my 2 cents on Steele, if anyone cares.

19. I agree with your 2 cents
Now that he doesn't have to speak for the RNC, he seems to speaking his own mind, though I think he's holding back just a little.

There ARE "smart republicans". They just don't care about anyone other than themselves. Their intelligence makes them all the more dangerous.

12. They were almost completely in agreement, but when they weren't, I actually
agreed more with Michael Steele. He's not so bad when he's not being a politician.

Maddow's suggestion that a Democrat caught in a sex scandal is somehow less offensive because they tend not to run as morally superior/family values sorts is just too easy. Whether you literally claim to be moral or not, people will assume that you conform to basic societal standards.

18. I don't assume that about anyone, (mostly because I have the Internet and I have been to Wal-Mart)
but also because, isn't it a bit presumptuous to assume that everyone has the same standards as to what makes a good marriage, (let alone a good life) as, say a fine upstanding citizen like yourself (or me?)

as far as I am concerned, the political practice of "Family Values-izing," is like announcing that you will make a career out of succeeding at tight-rope walking without a net(you don't need one after all, Baby Jeebus will keep you from falling) wherein the margin for failure is sooooooo slim, ANY small mistake will get you not just a lesson in Physics Vs. Faith, but more than likely, outright killed. My take is that most Human Beings have NO PLACE on that kind of moral high ground, we're not trained for it, we're not QUALIFIED for it, and there isn't a loving God in ANY universe in the Multi-verse that would actually REQUIRE it of us ANYWAY. You go up there at your own peril. My ONLY assumption about other people (and politicians) is that they are smart enough to know all this. While the GOP can seemingly be counted on to ENDLESSLY disappoint in this regard, Congressman Weiner, not so much with that aspect...my bitch is that he lied to RACHEL FUCKING MADDOW, LIVE ON TELEVISION and TO HER FACE, but thats another ball of wax altogether...

He too called for Weiner's resignation on said M$NBComcast earlier in the day.
The entire segment was fall down funny.
