What is the purpose of FOX pressing a RW Agenda?
Edited on Thu Jan-06-11 11:46 AM by Sheepshank
I mean, they are owned by foreign entities, they're not even US nationals.
What do they care about US politics?
Why are Murdoch (Australian) and Prince Alwaleed bin Talal (Saudi), the second biggest shareholder, so hell bent on pressing a Republican agenda?

More on Alwaleed at link. http://townhall.com/columnists/DianaWest/2010/02/04/foxs_fairly_imbalanced_pro-muslim_influence

This statement appears in the link: (...)Before entering his Murdoch association, Alwaleed gave a remarkably candid interview in 2002 about what Arab News described as his belief that "Arabs should focus more on penetrating U.S. public opinion as a means to influencing decision-making" rather than boycotting U.S. products, an idea of the moment.

The Arab News reported: "Arab countries can influence U.S. decision-making 'if they unite through economic interests, not political,' (Alwaleed) stressed. 'We have to be logical and understand that the U.S. administration is subject to U.S. public opinion. We (Arabs) are not so active in this sphere (public opinion). And to bring the decision-maker on your side, you not only have to be active inside the U.S. Congress or the administration but also inside U.S. society.'"
(...)

Given the concern so many on the right have about Muslim influence in schools (again, a Alwaleed link mentioned in the article), politics etc, would this not be considered some sort of nepharious back door, mind influencing process, enabled by all the Fox News viewers, for Alwaleed to acheive his stated purpose?

1. RW Agenda
Support foreign wars, oil interests, religious extremists, and a constant move towards Fascism. Things the two gentlemen mentioned are all about! ;-)

2. Simple
Its money. They have a niche market in telling people what they want to hear. They collect the profits and enjoy them outside of the US...so what do they care if the nation falls?

3. To make money - it's about ratings
Edited on Thu Jan-06-11 10:51 AM by badtoworse
They believe that spinning the news to the right will get them the best ratings and the most advertising dollars. There's no more to it than that.

11. But why not work towards making the country lean left?
I get the ratings issue, but there are a lot of left leaning people in this country...why choose the right, encourage the right, use lies and fear mongering to press a RW agenda....why the right?

5. Multinationals have no loyalty
neither to nations nor to people. They are devoted to their own bottom line and everyone else can go pound sand. They are the epitome of narcissism, embodied in entities with nothing resembling a conscience with which to restrain their actions. THAT's who FAUX represents, and their job is to brainwash the masses with their RW screed.

9. Only about money...what about power?
I guess we could extrapolate that money buys power....but there seems to be something more than just money going on. Or am I complicating the issue and the simple answer really is money?

13. RW'ers are more easily brainwashed. Its easier to manipulate people with FEAR than it is with hopey

changey rhetoric. Or, at least it used to be.
