APNewsBreak: Rep Tsongas: Weiner should step down
BOSTON—U.S. Rep. Niki Tsongas is calling for U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner to step down after the New York Democrat admitted to sending a lewd photo of himself to a woman via Twitter.

The Massachusetts Democrat told the Associated Press through a spokeswoman on Wednesday that "it would be appropriate for Congressman Weiner to step down."

Tsongas is the only woman in Massachusetts' 10-member congressional delegation and has championed efforts to combat sexual assault in the military.

Pennsylvania Rep. Allyson Schwartz was the first Democratic House colleague to call for Weiner's resignation, also on Wednesday.

1. Note: She is the widow of Paul Tsongas
Nicola Dickson "Niki" Sauvage Tsongas<1> (pronounced /ˈsɒŋɡəs/; born April 26, 1946) is the U.S. Representative for Massachusetts's 5th congressional district, serving since a special election in 2007. She is a member of the Democratic Party.

She is the widow of U.S. Senator Paul Tsongas, who represented the 5th district in the 1970s. She became the first woman from Massachusetts elected to Congress in 25 years.<2>

Paul Tsongas is the reason I switched from Independent to Democrat in 1992. I wanted to vote for him in the primaries.

3. I have a bad feeling about this.
I haven't said he should resign because I don't know all the facts. And because his district must have the last say. But when I see a woman I respect, who is on the side of military rape victims, say he should resign then I suspect there is info that doesn't help Weiner.
