I love that they're reading the Constitution out loud in the chamber.
Edited on Thu Jan-06-11 11:44 AM by WilliamPitt
It'll be the first time a lot of those assholes will be hearing it.

Hope they're taking notes.

"'Well-regulated militia'? Has it always said 'well-regulated'? Well, shit, I guess I'll have to change my mind and vote against legalizing shoulder-mounted grenade launchers sold over the counter at Wal-Mart with no waiting period or background check. Golly, am I glad they're reading this thing!"

:grr:

On Edit, as suggested by no-hypocrisy below, it's essentially a meaningless reading without the supporting documents to go along. Let them read the Federalist Papers.

By the time they're done, this congress will be over, and all damage will have been averted.

9. Just about the only amendment they listen to these days.
But just wait, the Republicans are trying even now to find a way around it. On principle alone.

3. Political theater of the absurd.
After this, they'll get back to business as usual. Should be fun seeing all the teaparty voters getting really pissed off at the clowns they elected once the bloom is off the rose.

I kind of like the idea of reading it once every session, or something.

6. It's meaningless without the 200+ years of interpretation of the document and amendments.
Sort of like expecting you can fix your car by reading the Owners' Manual but you have no idea what to do once you raise the hood.

7. Reading it is one thing but do these bozos actually comprehend it
I remember reading Ivanhoe when I was in 5th grade. I loved the challenge of reading this bigass book that I thought would make me all smart and stuff.

I still have no clue what that book was all about - other than a bunch of english folks back during the middle ages. But I swore I looked impressive carrying that damn huge book around for 3 weeks.

19. "Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself."
Well, not all members.

Funny how this thread was unrecommended. A well-regulated militia would be a solution to almost everything that ails this country. Fools.
