Take the Constitution Quiz and post how you did!
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2011/01/04/AR2011010404326.html?hpid=topnews

I got 10/12

I had a brain fart on the year it was written (I was thinking Declaration of Independance) and how many constitutions we've had.

I suspect most of you will do better than both a 5th grader and a Republican US Reprsentative!

1. The "test" is a stupid mix of unimportant and critical elements.
I do not recommend this test -- a better one is needed.

9. It's what the Washington Post offered and it's amusing to take
And I suspect we would still do better than a Republican US Representative.

3. 9/12.
1. Who was called "Father of the Constitution"?

* James Madison (I guessed Jefferson)

2. Which was the first state to ratify the Constitution?

* Delaware (I guessed Virginia)

3. How many constitutions has the United States had?

* Two (Wait, what? Wasn't it only one?)

19. The background on 3:
The current constitution replaced a document known as the Articles of Confederation.

No relation to the confederacy of the civil war.

26. I missed that too...
I knew about the Articles, but since it created a different form of government I did not consider that to be a "Constitution."

Mistakenly answered Jefferson...I guess the kids in the state of Texas will soon be wondering who the hell that Jefferson guy even is! No excuse for me...I was not educated in Texas! =(

10. I knew that one because of Biden
he was elected at age 29 but turned 30 soon after the election so he was then eligible to serve.

14. I got one wrong, I didn't see the "not" in the question
Which of these is NOT mentioned by name in the constitution? Although I don't think income taxes are named in it either, unless the amendments are considered part of the constitution.

16. That is the one I missed as well, but not for those reasons.

An earlier question was about quotes in the Constitution, and all three they quoted were in the Bill of Rights. So I figured to include the Amendments.

But I knew the income tax amendment (16th) did not use the exact phrase "income tax". So that was my reasoning behind selecting it.

I didn't care for their choice of a quote that was not in the Constitution. Rightwingers use that absence to stir up their lying shit on the subject of separation of church and state all the time. And now they have another excuse to go into another round. Which will, of course, gives the Post something to print.
