2. If Ted Kennedy were alive today, what would he think of President Obama?
Would he have made the endorsement?

11. Probably "Glad To See You...Best Of Luck"
The Kennedys and Daleys were and are very close. It was Bill's dad who is still credited with helping JFK win the 1960 elections and the Daleys stood with Ted when he ran in 1980.

The "real" Ted Kennedy would have voted for much of the legislation so many here have thrown shitfits about...including the final HCR vote. Looks like there's now an effort to "lionize" Teddy's legacy into specific agendas similar to those on the right who do the same with Raygun.

6. He would stand behind the president
Kennedy was the most loyal Democrat ever. He always knew that while a Democratic president would never support everything he personally wanted, he was smart enough to know that Democratic leaders were our best bet for a better America.

Damn, I miss him so much.

17. He knew Carter couldn't get re-elected
He knew that Carter couldn't win re-election, so he decided to run in 1980, which IMO was a big mistake. It only weakened Carter further and made him easier for Reagan to beat. Kennedy should have waited until 1984 to run.

7. I think so. He knew and understood far better than we do the reality of
getting stuff done in DC, and the lengths to which they have to compromise.

9. Amen.
Sen. Edward Kennedy knew the ins and outs of Washington and how it works better than anybody on either side of the aisle. Neither John nor Bobby came even close to matching his skills as a legislator. Conservatives hated his guts because they knew he could outmaneuver them nearly every time.

I'll never, ever forgive Massachusetts for electing Scott Clown to replace him in the Senate, which nearly killed his lifelong dream of reforming the nation's health care industry. Thank God we had brave congressional leaders in Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid who were able to save the plan against the most venomous, partisan opposition from the American right-wing.

The health insurance reform law will be repealed over my cold, dead body.

15. We do have a cub or two in training, however.
Al Franken comes to mind. May his Senate career be as long and fruitful as Teddy's.
