‘The Wire’ creator to Holder: I’ll do another season if you end the drug war
WASHINGTON – The creator of the beloved and critically acclaimed HBO series The Wire offered Eric Holder a counter-offer in response to the U.S. Attorney General's casual plea for another season of the show: I'll do it if you end the war on drugs.

"I want to speak directly to (Co-creator Ed) Burns and Mr. Simon: Do another season of The Wire," Holder said at a recent drug policy event in the nation's capital. "I want another season or I want a movie. I have a lot of power Mr. Burns and Mr. Simon."

In an email to Digital Spy, Wire creator David Simon responded: "The Attorney-General's kind remarks are noted and appreciated. I've spoken to Ed Burns and we are prepared to go to work on season six of The Wire if the Department of Justice is equally ready to reconsider and address its continuing prosecution of our misguided, destructive and dehumanising drug prohibition."

Quipped Ray Gustini of The Atlantic Wire: "The exchange has at least clarified one thing: the chances of another season of The Wire are now exactly the same as America having a rational dialogue about drug law reform." The HBO drama ran for five seasons between 2002 and 2008.

12. It's Michael now
remember from the last ep 30 - came full circle with Dukey taking the place of heroin addicted Bubbles and Michael taking the place of Omar. I mean yeah, I'd miss Omar - but I would LOVE to see a season six - and an end to the bullshit drug war.

8. What TV can really be -- amazing writing, layers of interwoven stories and characters,
great acting. Nothing like it. I'd give anything for another season.

9. Mr. Simon: would you settle for cannabis being set free?
That would address about 85% of the issue, at least as far as consumption goes.

10. I admire Simon so much
His work is really amazing.

And he is doing a good thing for all of us to say what he said.

11. I love The Wire. Well it's settled, the drug war must end. Time for season six!
and time to end the insanity we call "the war on drugs". Simon and Burns are awesome for saying this to Holder. The New Hamsterdam experiment in season 3 of The Wire where Major Colvin refused to go after drug users and pushers was one of the highlights of the show for me. If Holder REALLY respected Simon or The Wire, he would end this drug war madness. Holder has a chance to bring us season 6 of The Wire - now he better fucking do it!
