4. A "Trillionaire"?!?
Really? You think that's possible? For someone to actually have a net worth of one Trillion Dollars?

I'm hoping you are just blowing smoke.

10. With trillions in bankster bailouts anything's possible EXCEPT little people seeing any of the loot.
Edited on Fri Jun-10-11 10:31 PM by phasma ex machina
Wait for it. One of these days mass media will introduce the world's first trillionaire.

11. Not going to happen.
And if you actually think it will happen, you really don't grasp how much a trillion dollars is.

Unless you are talking Zimbabwe dollars.

12. Exactly why won't it happen? Because you personally don't approve?
Where do you think all of those trillions ultimately end up?

13. Do you really think it is possible for a single individual to attain a net worth of a $ Trillion ?
Really? The wealthiest man in the world currently, Carlos Slim Helu of Mexico, would have to have more than TEN TIMES his current wealth to even come close, and with a current net worth of $74 Billion, ten times that much would still put him far, far away from the one Trillion mark. Hell, no single individual is even close to the $100 billion mark.

No, it has nothing to do with what I approve of or not, it is simple mathematics and scale.

"Where do you think all of those trillions ultimately end up?

What Trillions? The money used in the bank bailouts? Much of it is repaid to the government and basically made to evaporate by the Federal Reserve.

YOU just like thinking that all that money went into some particular individuals bank account or pocket. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Just because you don't or can't grasp just how large a number one Trillion actually is, doesn't mean that any human will ever gather that much wealth in your lifetime if ever.

15. LOL...No, it doesn't.
Does it mean anything to YOU?

I kind of doubt it actually, but I am eagerly awaiting your next fascinating post.

Let me guess...you are one of those that thinks every single dollar of those "quadrillion" so-and-so's will settle and someone will pocket the money, right?

Do you also think that every single auto insurance policy in place will be paid out for the full amount of the coverage?

Look pal, I'll say this one more time and I'll try and type s l o w l y so you'll get it;

NO ONE IS EVER GOING TO BE A TRILLIONAIRE. EVER. Certainly not in US Dollars, anyway. For the Mexican gentleman I mentioned above to become one, he would need another NINE HUNDRED TWENTY SIX BILLION DOLLARS to get there.

It isn't going to happen. Not to a single individual.

18. If you have a point, please make it.
And "Lehman Brothers" isn't a phrase.

It is the name of a failed investment bank.

And so what?

23. No, it seems to have enthralled you, however.
You still have yet to answer any of my questions from above.

Do you actually think it is possible for a single individual to attain a net worth of one trillion dollars?
What "trillions" are you referring to in your post # 10? Exactly which trillions? From where? To whom? Do you have any idea at all what went on over the last 4 years, or are you just, as I said earlier, blowing smoke? And I am pretty sure where that smoke is coming from.
What is a CDO?
What is a CDS?
What is the primary difference between the two?
Define "Derivative" if you have any idea, in your own words. Just give me the simplest form of a financial derivative. Using Wikipedia is cheating.

And here is one I haven't asked yet, but I am really interested in what you think happened;

Of all the money provided the banks during the bailouts, how was it generally structured? As loans? As a gift? Did the Treasury or the Federal Reserve get anything in return? Or did they simply back truckloads of cash up to the loading docks of all those banks and shovel it in the back door and say "see ya, guys!"

I am not dazzled by the "mere notion" of a trillion dollars. I just understand that is it a shit-load more money than you apparently grasp if you think it is actually possible for any individual to attain that much personal net worth. If you do hold that idea near and dear to your heart, then you obviously have ZERO grasp of how the financial market works and how wealth is accumulated and by what means.

5. Well, it's not taxed.
It's decentralized: not created or distributed by a govt.
It's encrypted and potentially difficult to trace, so much harder to seize one's assets.

U.S. Senators Want to Shut Down Bitcoins, the Currency of Internet Drug Trade
By Brennon Slattery, PCWorld Jun 10, 2011 1:58 PM

Two U.S. Senators have written an open letter to the United States' Attorney General, asking federal authorities to crack down on "Silk Road," the Internet black market drug trade, and the digital currency that funds it, Bitcoins.

After reading the report on Silk Road, written by Gawker's Adrian Chen, democratic senators Charles Schumer of New York and Joe Manchin of West Virginia wrote a letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, Reuters reports. The letter states:

"The only method of payment for these illegal purchases is an untraceable peer-to-peer currency known as Bitcoins. After purchasing Bitcoins through an exchange, a user can create an account on Silk Road and start purchasing illegal drugs from individuals around the world and have them delivered to their homes within days. We urge you to take immediate action and shut down the Silk Road network."

9. Misleading title for that article
Two senators are outraged that people are buying drugs and want something done. Sounds more like they want to get rid of silk road rather then bitcoins. And I still don't know who this guy is being singled out and hunted down... or fucking why? A letter from two senators to the USAG does not really constitute a hunt.
