Republican bid to scrap healthcare hits snags

Republican efforts to scrap President Barack Obama's healthcare reform hit new trouble on Thursday when budget analysts put the cost of a repeal at billions of dollars and Senate Democrats promised to defend the law.

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimated overturning the reform signed by Obama last year would add about $230 billion to the deficit by 2021 and result in 32 million fewer people having health insurance.

That was a blow to Republican promises to cut the federal budget deficit.

"I don't think they expect, certainly they shouldn't expect the Senate to go along with this kind of wholesale repeal," assistant Senate Democratic leader Dick Durbin told reporters.

1. That's a feature, not a bug
Republicans know that repealing the health care reforms will add hundreds of billions of dollars to the deficit. That's why they exempted the proposed legislation from the new rules they promulgated about not increasing the deficit and being all fiscally responsible and stuff. A couple of news organizations have actually noticed the screaming hypocrisy of it all, but they'll soon slip back into blessed somnambulance, and blame Democrats for blocking the business of the People's House. No one will inquire too closely about they whys and wherefores of how the original health care reform legislation was passed in the last session of the People's House, and why this version of the People's House should trump for all time any other actions by the People's House. That's just the way it is.

2. We get rule by a flock of corportist propangda pushers
who get a meme in their heads that they push on us religiously. They are in positions where they have no fucking idea what is legal, probable, doable, fund-able, useful, or Constitutional. They have money and power and an agenda and, like a toddler with a diaper full who takes it off and slings it on the wall, we get the results all over us as what used to be a country of some sorts.

One can only hope that this soft Fascism will get as much funnier and ridiculous as it is a sham and a mockery of what they pretend to stand for.
