I see Weiner as a National Security issue.
He went out of his way to become blackmailable. He put content out to people that he dearly didn't want the public or his wife to know about. This info was so important to him to keep secret that he was willing to lie to multiple media outlets. He was willing to risk his position as a U.S. Congressman to keep this secret. If these women had threatened him with exposure there is no telling what he would have been willing to do.

He went out of his way to prove the women were talking to a real Congressman when they questioned the fact...

He should never hold a National Security Clearance again.

1. Or he is saying that ME
is the same thing everyone is saying when they point to the sky,
and think they are saying they are number 1.

6. Brilliant rebuttal. If he couldn't have been blackmailed then he wouldn't have lied.
I think the things he said and sent were essentially his own business as it didn't affect his job. Only his extreme desire to keep them secret affected his job.

If he had immediately Fessed up I would not have this opinion but his actions convinced me otherwise.

Edited on Sat Jun-11-11 07:31 PM by CJCRANE
when he disappeared over to Argentina (or the Appalachian trail or wherever it was).

Good try, but I'm not sure the situations are equivalent.

5. Congressmen are cheap and are easily bought as demonstrated by the level of corporate capture
Only the precious few that can't be bought are blackmailed.

Wiener it seems couldn't be and we are seeing the aftershocks.

7. Hahaha. You obviously never met people with top secret clearances.
The higher the clearance the bigger the freak. If you were to yank them for that, then the most of the intelligence agencies would be empty.

9. Yes, everyone has secrets but they don't plaster them on the internet
and social networks. They don't sent head shots to prove it them.

10. I'm sure if you looked around you would find it.
Or do it the old fashion way, talk to them. Most of them spill their guts after a few drinks.

12. Thank you, this is what I've been saying all along
The fact that he put Breitbart up on that stage, in exchange for an empty promise not to release the full Monty shot proves that Weiner was extortable.

If this had happened during the Cold War days, there'd be a treason trial.

13. Sounds like you're going out of your way to blame the victim.
The RW was stalking Weiner, then they were stalking people who followed Weiner. Why should his political enemies be allowed to wrench open the personal lives of a US Congressman & those he chooses to associate with?

There is a national security threat here - It's Breitbart & his cronies.

18. I view every politician who voted for the war in Iraq as a National Security Threat
I think every damn one of them put our nation at much greater risk than Anthony Wiener's penis did and I think they all need to resign before he does.
