4. most DU-ers who have seen it disagree with you
It is a whitewash -- a revisionist piece.

6. How so? Can you give an example of what exactly was ..
"whitewashed" or "revisionist" in it?

Much of the dialog comes directly from featured news clips, actual prices, conversations and interviews with the priniciples involved, including bankers, Congresspersons, and the other featured players.

The book upon which it is based is well sourced, with ample footnotes.

I'd just like someone to tell me what was "whitewashed". More likely very little. More likely accusations like that come from people who wished that the banks had not been given such a "no strings attached" bailout, and Barney Frank is very clear about that in his comments and interviews ever since. But facts of history are seldom what we wish they COULD HAVE BEEN, they are what they are!

5. It bored me and it didn't explain a thing about what was going on or why
Just a bunch of billionaire CEOs in a panic to save their own necks.

7. If that is the case, perhaps macro economics is not your strong suit.
As I said to the other poster above you, facts of history are seldom what we wish they had been, they simply are what they are.

The various causes and intricacies of the desperate state of our under-regulated, over-marginalized, heavily leveraged economy which led to a worldwide recession were clearly explained in the movie in several scenes. Sorry if you missed all that.

8. If it had been explained so I could understand it then a lot more people
would have been enlightened. But I can't even understand what you've said, so yes, it isn't my strong suit. And I'm not stupid nor am I dense or slow as you might be hinting at. Maybe people who understand economic jargon found it profound and breathtaking, but all I saw was a bunch of very rich people plotting against each other to see who could stay afloat and who would be left to die so they could survive. I didn't see a single moment of realization that what they had done would create a profound burden on us, the American people or break the economy and the country. I didn't see any soul searching as to what they had done would ruin the lives of millions, if not billions of people.

11. Well, you are partially right about the film, it IS a story of personalities
as well as a story about the time line and facts surrounding what was the biggest bailout in U.S. history.

We can agree to differ that there was not enough information about the actual economic pressures and facts which would have led to the greatest worldwide depression in history, if folks (including Geithner) had not acted. The fact is they acted. The worldwide depression was temporarily averted, and the film ends with a prophetic warning that the war is not yet over, (IF the banks don't lend out the money).
