8. Even if we weren't headed for another slow economy
the US economy would have trouble generating enough jobs to allow people to feel there was a true recovery seventeen months from now.

About all President Obama can hope for is that the trend line keeps coming down, and his Republican opponent is either a total fool, or Mitt Romney, who the fundies won't vote for.

10. Whatever Story Is Most Damaging to the Democrats
which will most likely be the double-dip recession.
The Republicans will do everything in their power to make it worse,
but Obama and the Democrats will get the blame (the Mighty Slime Machine will make sure of that).

11. It makes me physically ill to see a poll where
the dismantling of Medicare and a double-dip recession are justifiably chosen as the second and third most important issues of great concern in an upcoming election.

My god, how did we come to this?

If you were 50, wouldn't you be a little concerned?

17. I was puzzled by your comment
Then I realized that I too, am pretty sad that somehow, our country is at the point where we are fighting to keep medicare.

I thought you meant that those weren't legitimate issues, then I realized you were saying that we have so damn many things that need to be fixed (out of control military budget, wars and operations in so many countries in the ME and NA that it's hard to keep track of them all) that it's shocking axing Medicare is even on the table.

Good Point you made there, and it just tells me that no one in Washington really wants to end any wars. Even Robert Gates said we needed to get out of the world police business. He's right.

12. Should be dismantling of Medicare
If Democrats have the slightest bit of sense. They need to really hammer home what Republicans have in store for the elderly and really, all of us.

20. Hammer away
But if a person doesn't have a job to feed his/her family, all the hammering in the world will not take their focus off that one issue.

After our lizard-like alien overlords reveal themselves, should the US Gov't reist, or hop on board the crazy train?

16. The pukes will make the "47 percent of Americans who pay no income tax" THE issue
If the Democrats have one ball between them they'll be all over any asshole who tries this..."well, before Ronald Reagan was inaugurated and started his irresponsible tax cutting program, and started encouraging American corporations to send American workers' jobs to Mexico, China and Vietnam, that 47 percent paid taxes."

The heck with another extension. Make the republican show us how extending the Bush tax cuts actually worked and put millions back to work.
