Republicans in Disarray as Presidential Election Looms
The Republican Party is starting to look like The Gang that Couldn't Shoot Straight - what a collection of stumble bums they've turned into! Where do I start - the Trump candidacy? the Ryan Budget? Adding to Sarah Palin's ongoing stream of political gaffes, the Republicans are attracting an increasing number of fringe candidates with big negatives. Even their front runners are stumbling. Mitt Romney praises his own business background, setting up Steven Colbert's stinging rebuttal,

Romney's business career had more in common with Gordon Gecko than the owner of your local corner store. As even the New York Post pointed out, Romney's business success depended on destroying more jobs than he created.

Newt Gingrich stumbled badly out of the gate and so far has managed only to provoke a max exodus of his own staff:

Gingrich said he would stay in the race. “I am committed to running the substantive, solutions-oriented campaign I set out to run earlier this spring,” he wrote. But with his entire high command leaving at once, that task will be considerably more difficult . . .

I'm rubbing my eyese in disbelief. Where did these guys come from? They don't look like they could run a hamburger stand, much less take responsibility for running the country.

5. A guy like walker seems to be their perfect choice and who would please conservatives and teabaggers
but mainstream America will destroy a candidate like that in a national election. What would be left is a steaming heaping pile of GOP compost. They've got problems.

4. 1 GOP candidate can't cover the demands of all the different factions. An extreme right candidate is
their only real choice.

6. The Republicans know they can't win against President Obama in 2012
Each of the Republican candidates who have even a glimmer of a hope for winning a Presidential election are finding excuses to sit out the 2012 race. It will be a carer ender for who ever gets beat on the Republican side. They need to find that one special person to take the hit for the home team so the rest of them can survive to campaign another day.

8. It's good they're in disarray because there's lots of disaffection over here.

I hope Obama wins in 2012 not because the Republicans run a miserable candidate but because Obama becomes the change we believed in.

Holding breath (starting now)...

9. I'm dismayed as it appears that the purchase of republican party platform
(no matter who is the candidate) has destroyed an essential principle of democracy: to produce the most qualified leaders to elevate the debate and to potentially solve national problems, offering solutions that may be more effective than their opponent.

11. In the end...
It will be one Republican against one Democrat. Most people will vote Democrat or Republican, no matter who it might be. If they are happy, they will vote Democratic. If they are unhappy, they will vote Republican. It doesn't really matter what their names are.
