Wasserman Schultz Calls Out RNC Chair Priebus Sex Scandal Hypocrisy (video)
http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2011/06/12/243111/wasserman-schultz-calls-out-rnc-chair-priebus-sex-scandal-hypocrisy/

While leaders of both parties have called on Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) to resign following his Twitter sex scandal, leading Republicans have claimed Democrats are being too soft on the embattled congressman by employing a double ethical standard to Weiner. This is a pretty brazenly cynical attack, considering that, instead of calling on Sens. David Vitter (R-LA) and John Ensign (R-NV) to resign following their sex scandals, Republicans offered them support.

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus has been particularly vocal in his attacks on Democrats for not being hard enough of Weiner, specifically targeting his counterpart, Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Today, the two party chairs faced off on NBC’s Meet the Press, where Wasserman Schultz called for Weiner to resign and called out Priebus’ hypocrisy on congressional sex scandals. Priebus again refused to discuss the GOP scandals, claiming they are old news and thus irrelevant — even though Vitter serves in the Senate to this day. He quickly pivoted to saying we should be talking about the economy instead of personal issues, but that hasn’t stopped him from harping on Weiner:

WASSERMAN SCHULTZ: What Reince is saying doesn’t pass the straight face test from the chair of a party, none of whose leaders called for Senator Vitter, who actually broke the law, to resign. Who is still serving in office. … Hired prostitutes, and evaded the truth.

Chairman Priebus was chairman when Senator Ensign was also embroiled in unethical, unacceptable, and probably illegal conduct, and he did not call on Senator Ensign to resign. … So it’s a double standard. You only cal for Democrats’ resignations, not Republicans.

Watch it:

2. There it is!
We need more of that sort of attitude when dealing with the hypocrites on Capitol Hill. They want 24/7 Weiner coverage? Make sure it comes with a side order of 'sauce for the gander!' Bravo, Debbie Wasserman Schultz!

3. I saw this and really do like Debbie Wasserman Schultz...
...but overall I didn't think she did too well this morning. Not her fault really, Gregory had his anti-Democratic message going and she was stuck on the defensive the whole time. Virtually no questions to Priebus about the Republicans plan to destroy Medicare. Instead Gregory put up a chart showing how terrible things are under Obama and refused to concede that our policies prevented the country from sliding off into a real depression.

5. Why did David Gregory keep letting Priebus talk instead of making him stay on point?
I know, I know...

7. Please help my naiveté
Why does everyone call this a Sex Scandal when no sex was involved? When the braying for resignation from the left finally comes it's over an exchange w/a minor but not sexual...Are liberal Dems going evangelical prude on us?

WTF did Weiner do wrong except expose his male side and totally embarrass Himself/family. I believe this matter is Private between he and his wife and has nothing to do with any other sex scandal.

8. She's holding her own side to a standard she KNOWS the other
side will not abide by. How noble. And also ineffective. "Ok, we're both going to jump off this cliff, but let me go first to model how it's done, ok? Then, you follow me." She's a clown and a fraud.

To think that the rethugs will admit to her assertion is profound stupidity.

9. When Wasserman Schultz starts calling for Clarence Thomas to resign, she'll have credibility
In the meantime, this is just partisan game playing for appearance's sake.

10. Good for Wasserman -Schultz. We had best cover her back
I saw a piece on Daily Kos where some pundits were
saying she is over the top. SOME UNNAMED DEM> Political
Consultant says . Debbie has been accustomed to advocating
as one person. She had better tone it down. Debbie had
spoken the truth. The GOP is a war against women and
made an honest criticism of the Ryan Plan.

I am so glad she is doing this. Debbie is very careful
to speak the truth --just too outspoken for Republicans.

Tell the The Democratic Consultants to back off. What kind
of Democrat are they anyway??

Keep Debbie's back.
