The cycling advocacy group Vélo Quebec says traffic and congestion are not just a problem for people driving cars.

During peak hours on popular routes such as the de Maisonneuve bike path, the group says it is not uncommon to see more than twenty bikes lined up at red lights.

Vélo Quebec president Suzanne Lareau says there has been a spike in the number of people biking to work and that is causing more congestion.

More than one million people use the de Maisonneuve path each year and Lareau says some paths are seeing five times more traffic than they did just two years ago. ................(more)

2. True, but check out that bike lane. Not right next to gutter,

where gravel, busted glass, and other crap accumulates, and no light poles or other crap in the lane. We might get better ridership if we had safer/better bike lanes.

4. It's a chicken / egg thing. We might have more bike lanes if there was more demand for them
Of course in the US it's always too hot or too cold to ride a bike.

:sarcasm: in case anyone couldn't tell

3. i drove in madison wisconsin last weekend...yikes!
it took a while to get used to the bike lanes. i also realized you have to be watch out for the bike cops if someone`s smoking...

next time i go there i`m taking my bike...it`s a hell of lot easier than driving a car.
