Never underestimate the power of a small organized group
Edited on Mon Jun-13-11 12:50 AM by proud patriot
A guy named Ed mentioned in the comments of these to links, is 80 yrs old owns his own place here and his home has been vandalized 5 times by the local gangs. in the second group of photos you'll see the inside of his house covered with "Tags" holes in the walls. They ripped up his mattress, broke just about everything he owns. In the ghetto the kids are afraid to come out and play , Hypodermic needles a whole turkey in the bag rotting as well as Chicken in bags rotting is Not a safe playground and these were all found. Well this is the town I grew up in I live near enough to come and help in this clean-up. Once a west sider always a west sider.

Through the pictures and the comments in these 2 photo albums is the story of My home town America. The America you don't get to see on TV sitcoms. I'm proud we made the world just a little more beautiful.

"I was talking to my fam last night about what you guys are doing on that street and what has happened to Ed. Mike, who grew up in Piedmont said "Well they probably put that on the news, right?" The rest of us just laughed. I said no one on the news or in the police gives a crap about West Pitt. It just goes to show that we grew up with a different mentality then so many other people"

1. Recommended.
Looks terrific!

I work with locals here to clean up levees and waterways.

Last year we worked with at risk youth who really were mad at finding things like shopping carts thrown into the river.

10. Fantastic work, Proud Patriot!
I hate it when a few idiots try to ruin what is essentialy a good neighborhood full of folks who are just trying to get by and have a good life.

This perfectly illustrates what direct action can accomplish. I love the new artwork - it investes people in a way that just repainting a fence/house/wall does. Smart business owners here in my neighborhood who had problems with tagging brought in grafitti artists to do murals that represent the community -- tagging issue solved. Win win for everyone.

Thank you for stepping up and helping your community, and the world. :applause: :loveya:
