NBC scuttles Ted Williams' reunion with mother at LGA to 'scoop' CBS

"The Early Show," who scored an interview with Williams on Wednesday, had taken his mother to LaGuardia Airport Wednesday night to see him when he landed. But "The Today Show" whisked Williams away, scuttling a mother-son reunion.

That's so 70's.

CBS swooped up Williams 90 year old mother from Brooklyn and brought her to the airport without his knowledge. It's pretty clear if you look at this longer version of the eventual reunion... Williams was concerned about protecting his mother from the media or opportunists... It seems like CBS took the low road and tried to use his mother to manipulate the situation after NBC convinced Williams to come to NYC for the Today show. NBC had already booked Williams and arranged for his flight and accommodations. CBS had been scooped already.

Disgraceful behavior all around, and I hope someone is helping Williams make some good decisions. Pressure like this causes people in recovery to relapse.

That was awful. When does an anchor do something that Wragge did?? Just poor on CBS' part in my opinion

I hope that he is being given access to any behavioral health care that he may need.
