Whats up with all the Herman Cain fans?
I was reading a thread about him and there are many vocal defenders of this guy. Even though he seems to be a typical republican scumbag.
I also read in another thread a few days ago someone said there seems to be fans of this guy on here. Whats the appeal of this dude?

4. I like Herman Wouk, who wrote "The Caine Mutiny". . .
Can't imagine what appeal a Republican dough-spinner might have for these boards.

10. Well for many of us he is a new face politically.
If I agree with someone on issues I mention it, even if they aren't a Dem.
Many of us, over the years here, share information about Rep candidates so we know who they are AS candidates. Especially since some of us live in heavily Rep areas.

Plus I'm not a fan of lockstep them v us thinking.
There are several Reps in congress that I pay attention to (like Snowe) who are often on my side of the issues.

11. I didn't see any "fans"
I saw people, myself included, who didn't see anything wrong with what he had said to inspire the thread. His remarks were taken to be somehow racist, and I and others just didn't see them as such.

I detest the man. There are any number of reasons for that, but that does not mean I have to agree with every bad thing said about him, no matter the logic behind it. I have this annoying tendency to try to be fair, even to those I don't like.

13. This 100%
He refused to send pizza delivery "boys" into a violent neighborhood. Sure, he shouldn't really have called it a black neighborhood because that wasn't relevant. But he made the right call. I don't like him at all, I sure as hell am not a fan of his. But in this case he was right, regardless of how he phrased it.

18. Saying he wouldn't appoint Muslims to his cabinet is "somehow racist"?

There used to be lots of threads way back when about how great Ron Paul is.

14. They also defend his racism, which is quite baffling for me, but not surprising.
There was a lot of racism on DU during the Democratic primaries. People came out and showed who they really were and how they really felt.

15. It's the 'outsider' that appeals to people
Ross Perot, Pat Buchannan, and Donald Trump all attract people who think they're 'untainted' by Big Government. Hell, Barack Obama even used a version of that to describe why he was running for president with less than half of a US Senate term under his belt.

17. Herman is a radio personality
That is all he is. He has his unique followers, and says things for red meat. He is going nowhere in this election cycle. If anything, he is doing it for the future and for getting his own syndicated show imo. Maybe put the putz Boortz out of business...
