4. A doer for corporate interests and the Chamber of Commerce.
Being a "doer" doesn't mean much when what you do isn't for the interests and welfare of the people.

2. Don't you ever tell me to turn off Howard Dean! I STILL wish
HE would have been our President! I trust his word, and if he says give Bill Daley a chance...that he thinks he's a good addition t the Admin., then I believe him and I will give the ew guy a chance.

3. I don't have Rachel on...not sure what you are saying.
I did hear Howard Dean on yesterday on that Mika Thing Show where they laugh and chuckle and Dean did give some support to Daley.

But, then so has David Corn of Mother Jones and the "supposed lefty" blogger on Slate Magazine. TPM seemed to feel that Daley was a good choice because of David Corn's endorsement and the guy from Slate Magazine.

I'm not happy about Daley and don't agree with them. But, it is what it is. I don't know what Rachel is doing though. Is she trashing Daley so we should turn it off? Or, were you being sarcastic that she supported him and that other DU'ers wouldn't believe that Rachel would support him.

I'm sorry...I don't know...

5. I added the sarcasm tag.
Rachel is just wondering, Dean says he might have to eat crow later.

6. daley will be more loyal to barack than rahm was
he knows he has to repair the rift with the unions otherwise barack will not get the support he needs. he will also make sure big business will have nothing to fear from barack.

looks like it will be the daley democratic machine that will be running barack`s bid in 2012

7. Dean is a pragmatist. He also loves his party.
He KNOWS how progressives are feeling about this administration just like he KNOWS that many are looking to him and other progressive icons on how they should react.
I watched Howard on Ed Schultz. He reminds me of someone trying to keep a family together. I vehemently disagree with the choice of Daley. I'm tired of Chicago politicians. Daley also was the architect of NAFTA.
DLC all the way.
However, I still love Howard and respect his position as the peacemaker of the party he loves.

8. Does Not Care About Progressives
Edited on Thu Jan-06-11 10:16 PM by onpatrol98
I don't think Bill Daley cares one bit about progressives. But, he does care about businesses. If businesses think he's the right man for the jobs, we'll see it soon enough. If America sees the return of jobs and the White House gives the impression that the country is moving forward on that target, he'll breeze through the next election. I don't think Bill Daley will care one bit about America's modern culture. I don't think he'll care about gay rights, or unions (unless they're perceived to help stall the job market, the environment or anything else. I think his job is to make the President seem like a "grown up"...as the media loves to parrot. He's a dream for independents and the right. Many voters won't tie him to Chicago politics or big business. The media has been pushing him as the best man for the job and approved of...by even some republicans.

I think this is another one of those...after, all...where is the left going to go moments? If our morale gets too low before an election, they'll show us some camera shots of Sarah Palin and Huckabee. While we chew them to pieces...and each other, they'll keep governing as they like...

My Dad once said, Rahm wasn't called in too keep conservatives away...he was called in to keep liberals in check. I kind of wonder if this isn't more of that same thinking.

9. No one in the WH cares about progressives, liberals.
We should understand that in the way that education reform is pushed without regard to what educators think. We should understand that in regard to the attacks on Social Security, which will be devastating.

This is just another way of making the right feel good, though they will never vote for him.

And in the end each person will take it and take it until they reach their own point of realization.

I never thought it would happen.
