Vos and other Republicans such as Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald of Horicon also said that lawmakers will make changes to ensure that $47 million in federal aid for local transit systems won't be lost. Federal rules prohibit local governments receiving the aid from rolling back any collective bargaining authority from union transit workers.

To avoid running afoul of those rules, lawmakers are expected to vote to exempt transit workers from Walker's legislation ending most collective bargaining for public workers.

1. Divide and conquer - they tried it with the firefighters and police who
said no thank you. Wonder if transit workers will take the offer.
