Pets fed on woman who was dead in her home
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - A woman who had been dead for 22 days was found in her home Wednesday, and it appeared her pets had been feeding on her decomposing body, according to the Jefferson County Coroner's office.

Ida Robinson, 68, of Louisville died of natural causes, said Jack Arnold, a deputy coroner.

Robinson had four dogs, one of which was dead in the home as well.(snip)

Animal Services is working to put the dogs up for adoption or transfer them to another animal rescue group.

Ok, I like a nice shelter dog as much as the next guy but...well I'm not so sure.

1. The poor dogs were starving to death. What do you expect them to do?
I feel sorry for the dogs, and the lady, and whatever neglectful family she had.

3. If you don't feed your rescued dog it might be tempted to eat your face off but...
otherwise, I think you'd be okay.

4. Starving dogs feeding on the dead is hardly a risk...
for them attacking a living being-- no more than the Soccer team that went down in the Andes is likely to wake up one night and eat their wives, kids, parents.

7. Ultimately, it's the worms and bacteria or the pets.

9. aw jeez
I've imagined this scenario many times.. if I died unexpectedly and nobody knew, who would feed my cats? they don't know how to use a can opener. ta-da! it's a comforting thought.

yep.
I was always certain if I died my cats would feed on me. ( I outlived them both. )

I woke many times in the morning to one or the other of them biting me fairly hard, trying to wake me up so I would go feed them.

10. Those poor animals
must have been so desperate to have to do that. The poor woman had no one that even cared enough to check in on her after 22 days. So sad all around.

11. 22 days, and no one looked in on her or got worried enough to call the sheriff.
That's the sad shocking thing, not the fact that her starving dogs did what came naturally.
