Obama and Koh are setting a dangerous robot-war precedent.
By claiming the Libyan war operations are essentially not a war because US troops lives are not at a great risk, the WH is setting the incredible precedent that the Executive can carry out acts of war unilaterally as long as it is done with drones or from great distance.

This administration has been increasingly relying on drone wars. It has been there weapon of choice since Obama came into office.

This administration has ordered more drone strikes than any other. In Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, Yemen and Libya. There appears to be no restriction on where the WH can order strikes.

If this justification had been given under a repug administration, we would be going nuts.

And, when the next repug president is elected, they will seize this power and no doubt expand it.

1. So if the US "obliterates" Iran with thermonuclear weapons it wouldn't be "an act of war"?

I got the term "obliterate Iran" from SoS Clinton, BTW.

2. As long as they do it without risking US lives.
US lives seems to be the new test. Our lives are far more valuable, it seems. Only US lives being lost can reach the standard of war, apparently.

4. Redfining a perception of reality rather than living within the paradigm
is very creative political obsfuscation. But, it also has the eerily feeling of breaking with reality.

8. There doesn't appear to be any end in sight.

It is so very sterile and easy from afar--like a video game.

Aside from the basic immorality of it all and the obvious hubris, WE HAVE NO MONEY FOR THIS!!! It is borrowed!!!

The Pentagon and Whitehouse are out of control. The fake monopoly money that funds this needs to be cut off!!

And the so-called media needs to stop talking about WEINERS!!!:nuke: :nuke: :nuke:

And yes, a right-wing Republican president would continue this mess!!!

edit--I can't believe I misspelled "WEINER" :yoiks:

9. I agree this is a dangerous precedent
I even admit I was in favor of the Libyan intervention initially, but as I see the NATO/UN mission drag out, it is clear that it is another power grab by the Western powers. In essenc thwarting Russian ambition of building naval bases in Libya and Chinese influence in the region to ensure new oil contracts with the new Libyan government that has yet to be fully formed.
