when will we figure out how to counteract these clowns?

Never, we're too pious to play dirty.

1. Everyone has skelitons, I hope someone finds Brightshit's soon.
He plays a nasty game and it will probably get him eventually.

35. Fuck him, focus on Republican holding or seeking elected office.
He's just a clown. Uncovering the lurid story of how he caught syphilis will accomplish precisely nothing.

but I don't believe there is. The universe is random, and doesn't care if Breitbart wins or loses.

4. I believe they call this "Killing The Messenger" -
- instead of accepting the fact that if Weiner had kept it in his pants and off the internet, we wouldn't be having this thread. Weiner alone caused this grief.

10. Oh, save it
By that logic, Shirley Sherrod shouldn't have ever spoken anywhere at all, then Breitbart couldn't have an edited that video. Yes, we know what Weiner did, but Breitbart is still wrong for very many other reasons

The point is, this guy goes after people because of politics.

21. No, it's not. His actions are deliberate and targeted.
And there are unfortunately plenty of people here who will carry water for his causes. Either through some naive sense of sex-negative morality or more for more insidious reasons.

26. Oh really?
You mean the "Messenger" that lied about Acorn and created phoney and edited tapes which no one actually saw the originals to until Acorn was dead?

Or maybe the "messenger" that attemtpted to fraudulently invade the office of a congressman and put an illegal wiretap on her phone?

Give me a friggin break and do some research for a change. This charge was weak, not illegal, and nobodies friggin business.

Were you calling for Vitter or Clinton's resignation too?

28. and if Lynn Jenkins hadn't had an affair, then she wouldn't be on the verge of resigning
Oh wait, for some reason nobody is talking about Jenkins alleged affair.

It's almost like we have an M$M working on the morality patrol that only gives speeding tickets to cars with Democratic bumper stickers while Republicans zoom right by going 60 in a twenty five. And people who are supposed to be progressive are saying, "Well, if Weiner hadn't been driving at 32 miles an hour, then he wouldn't have gotten a ticket." Don't blame the Rightwing Noise Machine, they are just doing their job.

The fact is, we need to start digging for dirt on these Republicans and giving them a dose of their own medicine. I'm sure if some of their social networking accounts were heavily monitored, something would be found.

36. Bingo!! It's time to fight back, since the Party is too scared of
Breitbart. Maybe they have their own skelitons and think if they keep appeasing him he will leave them alone.

But definitely this kind of dirty politics is destroying the political discourse and worse, destroying innocent lives such as Juan Carlos Vera's eg, and Shirley Sherrod and all the ACORN workers who lost their jobs and some of whom lost their reputations because the media IS complicit.

(I guess there's just no way to avoid doubled entendres and bad sexual puns in this story.)

20. Ayup. If it wasn't Breitbart, it would have been someone else.
This was going to blow up sooner or later.

Anthony Weiner, in the end, sunk Anthony Weiner.

Time to move on, elect another Dem in his district, and get back to business.

I wish Anthony Weiner no ill will, I hope he learns from this and comes back one day.

15. The RW spent the 80s and 90s buying control of broadcast newsmedia. Dems haven't matched 1/4 of that
yet, because too many of them are still in denial about the media. Many Dems are paralyzed by the power of the RW media, also, and fear its backlash.

19. Where would we take our fight? Current TV. These thoughts were the first ones I had
when I found out about Weiner possibly resigning, then I remembered the lay of the land. The media will keep Breitbart and every scandal he unearths in the limelight while the Republican wrong-doing will be ignored.

I've watched for 6 years here at DU while so many have fought to turn this around where we have a voice and I don't see it happening. Frustrating, sickening, and annoying.

27. Well, it would help if you boys kept your dicks in your pants.
I'm willing to forgive a lot. I supported Clinton when I did because it was an obvious witchhunt that broke down barriers in order to get him, and it was obvious we were only making our country weaker (i.e. taking their eye off bin Laden) But, boys, taking pictures of towel rods on an unsecure phone line, when you have the reputation of being a loud mouth politician, what does that say about the rest of your judgment calls?

The blame for this one resides in Weiner's lap. Pun intended.

I certainly wish that he hadn't resigned, but I understand why he did. It whole situation just sucks no matter which direction you look at it from.

We've lost a strong voice in the House, but he did it to himself, the schmuck.

34. Yes, he's laughing. He doesn't even have to break a sweat...
All he has to do is get the ball rolling and we do his work for him. Isn't that great?

I'm going to permalink this post so I can link to it later. Because Breitbart has the perfect schtick here. He's going to run it again and again. The next Dem who speaks out against some Repuke criminal will be taken down. And if there's nothing to hang on them, they'll make something up and blow it all out fo proportion.

None of the Dems have the balls to look Breitbart in the face and say, "So what?? Bite me!!

The Democratic party reminds me of that Sierra Mist commercial, where there's a bottle of Sprite on the table, and when someone sets down the 2 liter of Sierra Mist the Sprite falls over and it's actually a corrugated cardboard cutout.

All the Repukes have to do is jiggle the table a little, and the Dems fall flat on their faces! finis.
