MSNBC is just fucking horrible. Pelosi gets up and says she's not going to talke about Weiner...
She then begins to start her next sentence about the number of days since the GOP took the house and how they haven't presented 1 jobs bill. MSNBC disconnects to talk about why she isn't talking about Weiner.

5. Screw her - she wouldn't have to talk about him if she would have supported him
I'm not defending MSNBC but IMO Pelosi, Schultz and some of the other congressional Democrats acquitted themselves very poorly in this whole sorry episode.

Of course she doesn't want to talk about Weiner, she's probably ashamed of herself.

It would be sort of poetic justice if Pelosi was the next Dem they decided to go after.

Bloomberg.

Everything else is entertainment tonight

9. Sadly it isn't entirely the media's fault though
Some of the blame falls upon the viewers who have such a short attention span, that "news" programs often avoid anything in depth or thought provoking. They know people are sitting there with remotes in hand, ready to switch channels if they aren't constantly stimulated.

16. Feh
Do you think they can actually tell percisely how long a viewer is watching a given story on a second by second basis and make decisions based on that?

No, this kind of reporting and "journalism" is decided on by people that want reporting to be a money making venture and to ruffle as few corporate feathers as possible.

This reporting is designed and if you detect a bias between reporting of democratic scandals and republican scandals well surprise! It isn't a coincidence.

25. Its also about ratings and sponsors
so in that sense it is a "money making venture". I'm quite sure MSNBC like other networks use focus groups to determine what holds the viewers attention. This kind of news reporting has been prevalent ever since the beginning of 24/7 news stations.

I don't think the viewer's attention span is the only consideration, but it certainly appears to be an important one.

14. YUP ... Ed Shultz did this the other day too.
Obama had given a jobs speech earlier in the day, in passing, Ed mentioned that it happened, plays no video, quotes nothing from it, then spends 20 minutes on Weiner.

Then later in the show, Ed complains that Obama isn't talking about jobs enough.

had she gone after the real criminals -- like Bush, instead of giving him a free pass for his crimes against the Constitution and against humanity.

35. Something fishy
Pelosi seemed to want to dump him awfully quick. Apparently, there was no love loss before this incident. If everyone had laid low for a minute he could have weathered the storm. But they were asking for his resignation before republicans.

34. I noticed that too
The media have been telling us that Weiner needs to resign so that the Democrats can get back on message about medicare. Yet, the minute we learn that Weiner is going, the media still don't cover the issues. News executives are now meeting behind closed doors to try to find some other empty drama-du-jour to talk about instead of medicare and jobs.
