Newt: It's all the staff's fault.
Edited on Thu Jun-16-11 10:43 AM by RandySF
Newt Gingrich told a Gainesville radio station this morning that staffers in his Georgia office had been neglecting their responsibilities for "at least a month" before resigning, in one instance disrupting cash flow to his campaign. Jim Galloway reports:

Said Gingrich: "At least in the case of Georgia, we discovered that they hadn’t been doing their job in at least a month. … As we began to get ready for some events in Atlanta, we discovered last night there were $13,000 in checks that were just sitting in a drawer that nobody processed. To have people that I had trusted, I’d known for years, fail that deeply was very sad."

Scott Rials is the veteran GOP political consultant who was in charge of that office. He gives Gingrich credit for giving him his start in politics.

Said Rials: “I’m saddened by where this is going. Our staff did everything they could under trying circumstances. They looked after every check – because there were very few checks. All properly vetted checks were sent to Washington D.C.”

Federal campaigns will return a check to a candidate that is written on a corporate account rather than a personal one, or is beyond the allowed cap on contributions.

"We republicons is well aware of what long-hair peaceniks is all about, and we say NO NO NO. My misfortune is, um, no doubt partly the Wrath of Jeebus for all we republicons have done to thwart his messages of peace and love. Sneer." - Teh Newtie (R - DraftDodger)

Wasn't Newt "neglecting" HIS responsibilities by taking a three-week vacation in Greece
instead of working with his campaign staff?

8. Newtie's a douchebag -- first, last, and always
The clown prince of douchery.

Like Palin (and the rest of the GOP field) he would be hooted off the stage in any normal country.

12. I hate to defend Rs, but it sounds like staff didn't forward checks until basic info was verified:
that may be standard professional practice
