You have to stand for something.

It doesn't matter if you call yourself a moderate Democrat or a liberal Democrat. It doesn't matter what you call yourself.

Sooner or later, you have to stand for something besides just winning elections. As we have seen, winning does not guarantee success. We must be willing to lose sometimes, if we are fighting for a principle. We cannot sacrifice everything just to win the next election.

As we have heard in the old country song, those that stand for nothing will fall for anything.

Sorry, that's just the way I feel.

There do exist lines that should never be crossed by someone who claims to be a member of the Democratic Party. Dems are currently flirting with crossing one on Labor and one on Medicare/SS. Oh, and yeah, on chosing Wll Street over the Middle Class and poor.

It is time the Party made a clear distinction about what it is and what it stands for. Un-apologetically, with passion and pride. Articulate to the People strong liberal ideals and why they are good for the country, and show how they have succeeded in the past.

To be honest, BOTH Parties are being held to the status quo through fear.

It's time we all started acting with a little courage.

I heard somebody earlier lamenting the loss of Wiener as the loss of the voice of the Democratic party. Its true we lost an incredible voice, but not THE voice... Because the way the founders intended things to be working, YOU, as a member of WE the people, are the voice not just of the Dem party, but of the United states government. We don't have to settle for anything. We need to find it in ourselves to stand up for what we really believe in.

If they get 4 more years we will have nothing left to fight for. The party should have been standing for something long ago. Like maybe the day after raygun won. The rethugs are done playing with the little things they have advanced right to the end goal - medicare, medicaid, social security. If we let them destroy those 3 programs we will never get them back. That is where I want to hold the line. That is where I want to take a stand.
