I don't care how much it fucking costs...some things are worth the money!
It's worth the cost to ensure that our nation's food supply is safe.
It's worth the cost to feed the poor, elderly, and sick.
It's worth the cost to educate our children.
It's worth the cost to make sure that our medicine is safe.
It's worth the cost to shelter the homeless.

You know what's NOT worth the cost?

Spending billions on the newest military toys just to prop up our overseas imperialism
Spending billions on this failed "drug war" and locking up millions of Americans
Spending billions propping up Wall Street banks, especially when they turn around and shit all over small businesses

11. the problem is, the people with all of the money DO care how much
all of that costs - and they aren't about to let the government collect and spend THEIR corporate money to accomplish any of it. Selfish assholes.

13. The thing about it, that is the "middle ground".
It is a compromise reached over many decades that is fair to the people to assure that a few at the top do not get all the wealth. Medicare and Social Security are part of the "middle ground" for the people.

26. When dealing with a counterpart
that refuses to bargain in good faith civilized is off the table. This is the dumbest country on Earth, and the most easily frightened. The Republican/Machiavellian strategy of pitting the uneducated against the working class is turning us into predators, willing to feed on each other's flesh. With each passing day we devolve further into a primitive death spiral. Who benefits from our uncivilized march to the deep end?

It's all about money. What a shame people can't see that there is far more to life on this emerald sphere in space than wealth. I see it every day when I look at birds in the trees, talking with each other.

I believe we can live in peace and good health. It's not just some weirdo hippy dream.

23. Excellent post
It is also worth it, for our government to invest in real clean energy. Water safety and cleanliness can't be far behind, considering it is the most precious of all "commodities". But for national security reasons, clean energy must be catapulted into our being. The only entity possible is the government. Sorry republicans we wouldn't have made it to the moon with the private sector either. :)

25. That's pretty much what my head has been yelling at me
for a while now. Also, we hire them to get the things we need planned, arranged and implemented. We don't hire them to TELL us what we will have or not have. Increase the revenue side if we can't pay for our priorities, don't cut them. If they don't want to increase taxes, then create jobs to increase revenue...government jobs ARE jobs.

30. But what about Wall-street profits
Feeding the poor, educating our children, sheltering the homeless, protecting our food and medicine is not profitable. Think about the billionaires and millionaires why won't you think about the billionaires, the poor, poor billionaires.
Bombing a third world country back to the stone age makes billions in profits and when the billionaires get more money. They will out of the kindness of their heart trickle some it down to all those poor welfare queens. :sarcasm:

If the Democratic leadership had spines and any sense of self-preservation or common sense they would be out saying this LOUDLY & CLEARLY every day. For the greedy corporatists whatever "concessions" the democrats are willing to make will never be enough, they want it all.
