Our leadership unfortunately seems to be more embarrassed by the latter.

And our media seems alternately aghast that a congressman exchanged photos on the internet, but impressed when a congressman calls kicking children off Medicaid, "being responsible to our children's future".

You know, it is kind of sad that a talented guy like Weiner needed validation of his body and privates from someone he didn't even know to feel good about himself.

But it's sadder that our own leadership needs the validation of wealthy media talking heads in DC to feel good about themselves.

12. I just can't allow myself to be embarrassed by actions of others, over which I have no control
You should try it.

4. If Weiner had worked as hard at reducing poverty as he did at tweeting his cock
everyone in the US would be comfortably off.

9. Nonsense
He spoke out and stood up and voted his conscience. If more Democratic congressmen were as right as he was on the actual issues it would be a far better world.

10. I'm embarrassed that Alabama state senator Scott Beason said, "Black people are aborigines,
“illiterate,” and can be enticed to vote with buffets."

Now why isn't this a scandal that the media clings to, a story that won't go away?

14. Maybe if our leadership ended our involvement in, say, Iraq, they could focus on sumthin' else
like social policy.

15. I so agree!
the way we are treating the most vunerable, the way politicians proudly promote doing so, campaigning on selfishness- is beyond shameful.

17. The whole of pub initiatives is far more depraved than Weiner's
peccadilloes in their entirety. :patriot:
