3 earless bunny born (china)

The earless rabbits have bald heads and gray eyes instead of hairy heads and red eyes.

The owner of the rabbits said that the mother rabbit used to give normal birth and only this time the new-born were different.

The weird news attracted villagers far and near.

“Maybe it is because of genetic variation,” said one resident.

1. Uncommon, but not unheard of. There's a cute one that was
born in the UK, with lots of photos and stories on Google. Just google "earless rabbit." It's a genetic deal, for sure.

Now, that doesn't mean that radiation couldn't cause a mutation that resulted in an earless rabbit, but they seem to pop up anyhow without that as a cause.

2. Hmmm, may not be genetic, or it may be a 'normal' genetic variation
A discussion on a rabbit breeders' forum indicates that there are cases where a rabbit doe may over groom her baby bunnies and thus remove the ears: http://forums.rabbitrehome.org.uk/showthread.php?t=194355

5. Maybe they just don't have the outward ear, but have
a hole for the sound to go to their hearing apparatus.
