What's up with all those abortion billboards targeting blacks and Latinos?
I've been reading about those on the blogosphere. First, from Right Wing Watch "New Anti-Abortion Billboards Offensive to All":

"Abortion makes 3/5th human seem overly generous."

Because struggling as a single mother abandoned by the father of her baby and having to work many jobs just to put some food on the table and not being able to spend a lot of time with the child are more generous?

"The 13th Amendment freed us. Abortion enslaves us."

This kind of comment doesn't appeal to my emotions but rather confirms my belief that this whole "stop the abortions" issue is more a distraction from issues affecting actual CHILDREN (that's right, as George Carlin said: "If you're preborn, you're fine; if you're preschool, you're f--ked.") such as: education, toxic chemicals in baby products, the environment, crime in low-income neighborhoods, poverty, unhealthy school cafeterias, and so much more...but noooo...it's all those slutty black and brown women who sleep around and enjoy killing their babies that are the worst thing happening!

Meanwhile, the reports that the Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles has taken down its billboard from Los Angeles that said: "The most dangerous place for a LATINO is in the womb" (a cheap imitation of a similar New York City billboard that targeted black women).

This whole pro-life thing is an ugly sham. The right to be born is more important to such adherents rather than actual human rights for children/families such as health insurance or a living wage.

1. The thinking is that Latino & AA communities are more socially conservative
Someone in the GOP has crunched the demographic numbers and realized that if they continue as a party of predominantly rich greedy white people and stupid right-wing fundamentalist white people, they're in deep shit.

There's no concrete evidence this ploy will work, though, particularly given the clear contempt for those communities that is shown in other GOP policies.

3. And I'll bet that compares closely with white groups of similar income levels.
Historically, black unemployment is double what it is for whites, and the average income is lower, particularly since black people are more often concentrated in economically depressed areas of the country: inner cities, and the deep south.

All this is a complicated way of saying that if you're black, you're much more likely to be born into poverty and have little way out of it, and poverty is not a good condition for raising children.

5. Abortion = Genocide!
is just the latest scare tactic based on a pack of lies. All they have are lies and scare tactics. They have no legal, logical, nor moral basis for being anti abortion.

They're just woman haters and we all know it.

6. I would say African Americans and Hispanic folks are more religous
And since religion goes hand in hand with the bible thumping "fetus savers" they've already got one foot in the door.
